Emerging Issues

       There are emerging issues regarding domestic violence communities are safe and free from violence: some believe if domestic violence can be stopped of lessened with relationships being more respectful; services meeting the needs of women and their children; and systems work together effectively. The incidence of domestic violence in gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender relationships has been found to be comparable to that which occurs between heterosexual partners. More than 800,000 cases of domestic violence perpetrated by women against men are reported annually. One in four women seeking care in the emergency department for any reason is a domestic-violence survivor.
